MVS participants will work with other volunteers to help deprived youth in Northern Ireland to take steps towards integrating peace into their lives.
Bradford : This university town is experiencing societal strains as Asian immigrants seek to find a place to belong. Tensions have grown in the wake of the Parisian suburb riots as racial, socio-economic and religious differences have been neglected. Working with youth to build social cohesion will be the focus of MVS participants serving in Bradford.
MVS participants are asked to fund their year of service either through their own savings or by asking their home congregation to contribute additional support. If finances are a significant barrier to your participation in the program, MVS personnel are available to evaluate your situation and give advice for raising support.
Those serving in MVS International will join the week-long orientation in August with all incoming participants. An additional weekend will provide specific orientation for volunteers preparing to travel abroad.
